Professor Karin U Schallreuter received her medical degree from the University of Hamburg in 1984 and the following year also defended her doctoral thesis there. She became a certified dermatologist in 1992. She became a Professor for Clinical and Experimental Dermatology at the University of Bradford in 1995 and has been Clinical Director of the Institute for Pigmentary Disorders (Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald) since 1999. Under Schallreuter’s guidance 18 MD students completed their thesis, 16 with magna cum laude. Moreover, 21 PhD students completed their thesis under her supervision.
She has published over 280 peer reviewed articles and developed several treatments for skin diseases including eczema and vitiligo.
